He earned his bachelor's degree in philosophy and economics and his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.[1] He was a professor of law at Yale University. INTRODUCTION

Harold D. Lasswell was a pioneering political scientist whose work during six decades of the twentieth century spanned several disciplines. In a 1963 history of the profession, Lasswell was ranked the second most influential political scientist prior to 1945 and the fifth most influential from 1945 to 1963.(1) Although a renowned political scientist, Lasswell was broadly interdisciplinary in his research and his work was often published in psychology, sociology, communications, law, and world affairs journals.

Born in 1902, Lasswell studied and taught at the University of Chicago from 1918 to 1938. After leaving Chicago in 1938, he was affiliated primarily with the Yale University School of Law for the rest of his career.(2) At Chicago, Lasswell was an early behavioralist in a department that, under the leadership of Charles Merriam, was leading the behavioral revolution in political science.
