Laura laine biography

Laura Laine (born 1983) studied fashion design at the University of Art and Design Helsinki and she received the Young Designer of the Year prize in 2011. She is a Helsinki based visual artist and illustrator with her own distinct and recognizable style. Recently ranked by The Illustrator (ed. by Taschen) as one of the 100 best illustrators from around the world, she has also been working with glass since 2013 in Finland, Netherlands and Czech Republic. Her art works have been exhibited in Dubai, Tokyo, New York, the Netherlands, London, Los Angeles and Helsinki, among other locations. In her illustration work, she is particularly known for her surrealistic hand drawn female figures. Laine’s CV lists a great deal of work for international magazines and companies such as Vogue Japan, Vogue Italy, Vogue Germany, Givenchy, Elle, The New York Times, The Guardian, Harvey Nichols and Pantene. She is also collaborating frequently with Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio. She has received multiple awards for her work. Spazio Nobile represents her since 2019 and has shown her Wet Collection glas


Finland has some amazing glass artists known all over the world. For example Kerttu Nurminen, Markku Salo and Oiva Toikka.

Now you can add a new name to that list: Laura Laine.

Until now Laura, Young Designer of the Year in 2011, has been well-known as a fashion and commercial illustrator for the Finnish magazines and international clients like Vogue, Sephora, Elle, Zara, H&M, GAP, The New York Times, The New Yorker and The Guardian.

The Wet Collection, Laura´s first unique adventure in the deep sea life translated into the world of glass, is now open at the Design Museum Helsinki. 

Go there and have a swim in the sea of fantasy and surreal beauty only a real artist can create.

Laura Laine Fashion Illustrator was born on 1983 in Finland, a great marvelously brilliant young Scandinavian. Laura finished his studies on fashion design at University of Art and Design Helsinki with an interest mainly on fashion illustration. Laura’s latest patrons comprises Zara, The New York Times T magazine, Vogue Nippon, GAP, Tommy Hilfiger, Elle Girl, the Guardian, Telegraph, Rad Hourani, I.T Post magazine, Iben Hoej, Muse magazine, Wunder and Daniel Palillo.
