Kristin Booth Glen was a judge for the New York County Surrogate's Court in New York. She began serving in this position in 2006, following her election, and retired at the end of 2012.[1][2]

Education

Glen received her B.A. degree from Stanford University in 1963 and her L.L.B. degree from Columbia Law School in 1966.[1]

Career

Glen began her career in 1966 as a law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit. She then practiced as an associate of the firm Rabinowitz, Boudin & Standard from 1968 to 1971 and as a partner of Boies, Glen & Karle from 1971 to 1980. She also served as a visiting associate professor at Hofstra Law School from 1978 to 1981. From 1980 to 1981, she was an associate professor at the New York Law School and, in 1981, she became an adjunct professor. She worked in that capacity until 1995 before joining the City University of New York to work as the Dean and a Professor of Law until 2005. She also worked as a Mediator and

Alicia Glen

American civil servant

Alicia Glen is a civil servant who served as Deputy Mayor for housing and economic development[3] for the City of New York from 2014 to 2019. She was appointed by Bill De Blasio, and stepped down in early 2019.[2]

Personal life

Glen is the daughter of Kristin Booth Glen who was a State Supreme Court judge, and was appointed by Mario Cuomo to the 1st department appellate division.[4]

Government career

Glen served as Mayor Bill De Blasio's Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development from 2014-19.

In June 2022, Glen was appointed by Governor Kathy Hochul to the Gateway Commission.[1] She serves as Co-Chair.

Glen is the Chair of the Trust for Governor's Island. [5]

Glen was referenced as a possible candidate for the 2025 New York City mayoral election in the Democratic Primary. [6]

Kristin Booth Glen (Kris) graduated from Stanford University and Columbia Law School and clerked for the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.  She was in private practice as a constitutional and civil rights litigator, has been a legal educator, teaching at NYU, Hofstra and New York Law Schools, and a judge. In 1980 she was elected to NY’s trial court of general jurisdiction, and then served on an intermediate appellate court until she left the bench in 1985 to become Dean of the City University of New York School of Law. After a decade there, she returned to the bench as Surrogate of New York County, from which she was mandatorily retired in 2012. She returned to CUNY where she was a University Professor, and in 2016 founded Supported Decision-making New York which she’ll tell you about. She has also been active in national and local bar associations, including serving as Chair of the ABA Commission on Law and Aging.
