Azra Akın adalah seorang aktris, penari dan model Turki yang menyandang gelar Miss World 2002. Gelar itu dimenangkannya pada 7 Desember2002 di Alexandra Palace di London (Inggris) sebagai wakil Turki. Ia menjadi wanita Turki dan muslim pertama yang dinobatkan sebagai Miss World.^[1] Ia merupakan juru bicara Dana Penduduk Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa di Turki.^[2]

Kehidupan awal

Azra lahir pada 12 Desember1981 di bagian wilayah Almelo dan bagian Belanda dari orangtuanya yang berasal dari Turki. Ayahnya (Nazım) dan ibunya (Ayda) bermigrasi dari Turki ke Belanda pada tahun 1971. Azra Akın memiliki satu adik perempuan bernama Doruk.^[3] Pada tahun 1998, di usia 17 tahun, Akın dipilih oleh Elite Model Turki; ia kemudian berpartisipasi dalam kompetisi Elite Model Eropa di Nice, Prancis, di mana ia berhasil masuk dalam final 15. Ia melanjutkan kariernya sebagai model di Jerman pada sebuah katalog berbahasa Jerman Otto.^[3]

In 2002 she has won Miss Turkey title and same year entitled to attend Miss World Contest and she has won Miss World title. She brought that title to Turkey second times after Keriman Halis in 1932. In 2003 she has attended "The Games" reality show with her Miss World title which was broadcasted in England Channel 4 and she won the show. In 2004 she was the face of Turkey International Tourism Campaign. Same year, she has started her acting career with the TV Series "Yagmur Zamani" and continued with 'Oyun Bitti', 'Ruzgar' 'Ayrilik', 'Genis Aile', 'M.U.C.K.' Azra Akın (born 8 December 1981) is a Dutch-born Turkish model and actress. She is a beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss World 2002 and Miss Turkey 2002.

Akın was born in Almelo, Netherlands, to Turkish parents. Akın's father (Nazım) and mother (Ayda) emigrated from Turkey to the Netherlands in 1971. Akın has one younger sister called Doruk. In 1998, at the age of 17, Akın was selected Elite Model of Turkey; she then participated in the Europe Elite Model competition in Nice, France where she reached the final 15. Akın continued modelling in Germany for the German catalogue Otto.

In 2002, Akın won Star TV's Miss Turkey. Thus, she represented Turkey in the Miss World beauty pageant which was held on December 7, 2002 at Alexandra Palace, London, which she also won. Akin accepted the tiara and $156,000 prize from the previous year's winner Agbani Darego.During her reign, Akın travelled to the United Kingdom, Turkey, the United States, New Zealand, Ireland, Jamaica, Australia, China and many more countries.
