Biography
Anthony Santos started around 1989 as a guitar player for many other artists around that era.
After playing for Luis Vargas he decided to go solo with his unique sound. He refined the sound of his guitar and modified the language to a more romantic tone to conquer a different audience, then all his previous friends. Doing so he took Bachata to a different level, than it was. Taking it from just playing in cabarets and the North West part of the Island to the rest of the country and then internationally. After more twenty years in the music, Anthony still is the best paid and recognized Bachatero. Anthony Santos is very humble and simple. He has influence many other people in his native Dominican Republic as well as Internationally; One good example, is Romeo from Aventura. Anthony also had a big influence on his cousin Raphy Santos, who is also a Bachata artist Anthony still remain one of the most hard working people in the industry. Anthony Santos, known professionally as Romeo Santos, is an American singer, record producer, featured composer and former lead singer of the Bachata group Aventura. As a member of Aventura, Santos has been a key figure in popularizing Bachata, with hits reaching near the top of the Billboard Latin charts and the top of charts in Europe. In 2002, the band's song "Obsesión" was No. 1 in Italy for 16 consecutive weeks. After releasing several albums with Aventura the group went its separate ways. Since then Romeo has embarked on a solo career which in three years has spawned seven No. 1 songs on the Hot Latin charts and eight No. 1 on the Hot tropical songs chart. His first album, Formula Vol. 1, shipped over 300,000 copies and his second album has already shipped over 240,000 copies.
