Biographical Note.
Charlotte A. Meade was born in Fairmont and is a graduate of Dunbar High School, West Virginia State College (now University) and the University.
A published poet and writer-arranger of music, she has taken part in the "Writers of Color" program at Fairmont State College and is a fellow in the West.

Charlotte’s Corner

Established by a woman who never had a dog until she was 40, Charlotte Meade walked into a high kill pound one spring afternoon in Waterbury Connecticut and was told that the dogs she was interested in adopting would not be there after the 3 day holiday. The dogs would be euthanized to make room for incoming dogs dumped by owners and strays picked up daily on the streets. With that news weighing on her, she went home and built fences, determined to do what she could for as many as she could. And she quickly learned that there was truth in that line so well known in the world of rescue, “Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever”.

That fateful weekend changed her world too. The next few years were spent scouring dog pounds in eastern NewYork and CT for dogs in danger. Adopters were easy to find! Great news! Abstract:	Charlotte Meade (?-?), United Methodist Church West Virginia layperson, is a lifelong member of the Black Methodists for Church Renewal (BMCR) Caucus. Meade served in various leadership capacities for the national BMCR organization. These positions included Secretary and Assistant Secretary for the BMCR National Board of Directors (1971-1980), Board Member at Large (1987), assigned to Personnel Committee (1986) and Communications Committee (1987). The collection essentially documents Meade's involvement with Black Methodists for Church Renewal (BMCR) as evident in her records dating from 1969 to 2002.

Charlotte Denise Meade
Charlotte Denise Meade, a cherished sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024, in Holland, Michigan, at the age of 61. Born on November 13, 1962, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Harvey and Henrietta (Sloan) Meade, Charlotte's warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.
Charlotte grew up in Pullman, Michigan, where she shared an unbreakable bond with her brother, Doug Meade, who predeceased her. She found joy and comfort in the company of her loving sister, Wanda Clifton, and brother-in-law, Ron Jeralds. Charlotte was a beloved aunt to her nephews, Marcus (Tanya) Jeralds and Charles Clifton (Shana Reed), and her niece, Jessica (Josh) Wells. Her great-nieces and nephews, Gavin Beltran, Audrie Aaron, Kailey Jeralds, Sadie Jeralds, and Emma Clifton, will fondly remember her playful spirit and loving embrace.
Charlotte made her home in Pullman, Michigan, where she created a life filled with simple pleasures and enduring friendships. Her passion for collecting knickknacks from her travels and various places she visited was a
