Who Is James Holmes?
James Holmes was found guilty of murdering 12 people and wounding 70 in a Colorado shooting rampage on July 20, 2012. The incident took place at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, where a screening of the 2012 Batman film The Dark Knight Rises was playing. Shortly after the incident, police arrested 24-year-old Holmes, who was wearing a gas mask and body armor at the time. He had also dyed his hair red to resemble the Joker, a well-known Batman villain. On July 16, 2015, a jury found Holmes guilty of 24 counts of first-degree murder, two counts for each of the 12 victims. He was also found guilty of 140 counts of attempted murder for the 70 people wounded and guilty of one count of possession or control of an explosive or incendiary device.
