Artist Talk | Myra Mimlitsch-Gray
Myra Mimlitsch-Gray will be offering an artist talk In The Gallery at Brooklyn Metal Works on October 26 from 2-3pm. This talk is in conjunction with her solo exhibition Conduit, on view from September 21 - November 10, 2024 at Brooklyn Metal Works.
Mimlitsch-Gray will discuss the premise of Conduit and how it relates to her current creative practice, followed by a question and answer session. Open to all, this lecture is free with a suggested donation of $5 - $10.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerianne Quick.
Kerianne, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I was a kid, my father often referred to my immediate families cultural background as ‘Heinz 57’. With living grandparents who had immigrated from Cuba and the Netherlands, and great-grandparents mostly from different regions of the British Isles, this idea fascinated eight-year-old me, and I readily became obsessed with genealogy.
This realization of places and cultures at a distance made the world a bigger place – and was the first step toward gaining an understanding about the composition of her own unique cultural framework, and that of others.
Ultimately, my upbringing developed in me a sensitivity toward the range of subtle similarities and extreme differences that can exist between peoples and places. This transformed into a voracious appetite for hidden histories, interest in the traditions of tourism, and fascination with the relationship between objects and memories.
