Paul David Hewson (born 10 May 1960), known by the nickname Bono (BON-oh), is an Irish singer-songwriter, activist, and philanthropist. He is the lead vocalist and primary lyricist of the rock band U2.
Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, he attended Mount Temple Comprehensive School where in 1976 he began dating his future wife, Alison Stewa

Bono himself felt the effects of the religious division in Ireland. His father was Catholic and his mother Protestant. I don’t know how the situation is today, but when his parents got married in the Forties. intermarriage was very much frowned upon. Bono himself was raised Protestant and despite being a popular figure at school, always felt a lack of belonging, an understandable sense of being torn between two worlds.

- 1er mai 1960 : Un avion espion américain type U2 est abattu en Union Soviétique. C'est l'incident de l'U-2.
- 10 mai 1960 : Paul David Hewson (futur Bono) naît à l'hôpital Rotunda de Dublin[2]. Né d'un père catholique, Brendan Robert Hewson (dit Bob Hewson)[3], et d'une mère protestante, Iris E. Rankin Hewson[4], dans une Irlande déchirée, sa situation vis-à-vis de la religion est dès le départ assez particulière.
- 8 août 1961 : David (Dave) Howell Evans (futur The Edge) naît à l'hôpital de Barking à l'est de Londres[5]. Ses parents, Gwenda et Garvin Evans, sont d'origine galloise.
- 31 octobre 1961 :Larry Mullen Junior naît à Artane, Dublin[6].
- 1962 : David Howell Evans déménage pour Dublin avec sa famille, ses parents, son grand frère Dik et sa petite sœur Gillian.
