Early years

Sammy Adams was born as Samuel Adams Wisner on August 14, 1987, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Kata Hull and Chuck Wisner. He and his family moved to Wayland, Massachusetts, when he was in high school. Adams then attended Beaver Country Day School before transferring to Wayland High School during his junior and senior years. Later, he went on to attend Trinity College, where he played soccer.

Adams has been involved in music since his childhood; he played piano from the age of 7. At 11 years old, he began to improvise while playing on his piano, to create his own beats and melodies. Mixing pop hooks and suburban party rap, Boston's Sammy Adams caused quite a stir in 2010 when his debut album topped the digital hip-hop charts the week of its release.

Born Samuel Adams Wisner, he was a soccer-playing senior at Trinity College in Hartford when he decided to inject some attitude into Asher Roth's hit "I Love College." With the results posted online under the name Sam Adams, his answer song, "I Hate College," made the rapper an Internet star in 2009. It was followed the next year by the underground mixtape Boston's Opening Day. His aboveground breakout, the Boston's Boy EP, debuted at the top of the digital hip-hop charts, driven in part by the success of the single "Driving Me Crazy."

He returned in 2013 with Homecoming and officially changed his performing name to Sammy Adams in order to avoid any confusion with the Boston-based brewing company. Adams started recording songs on his Macbook in 2008 from his college dormitory room. Over the course of the next two years, he recorded a large amount of material that would be used on his later releases. In early 2010, he emerged into the music industry with his release of "I Hate College (Remix)", a remix of Asher Roth's I Love College, on YouTube. He was able to sell his EP, Boston's Boy, released on March 4, 2010 by 1st Round Records. The EP managed to reach #73 on The Billboard 200. Boston's Boy also debuted at number one on the iTunes hip-hop chart in its first week, and the song "Driving Me Crazy" hit #8 on iTunes hip-hop singles chart.

In the end of June 2010, Adams finished his first mixtape, Party Records Mixtape, in London. It was released on September 23, 2010. It was produced by DJ Whoo Kid and DJ Cash and sampled beats from Deadmau5 (Some Chordz) and Yolanda Be Cool (No Speak Americano),
