Jed Madela – born John Edward Tiña Tajanlangit in Iloilo City, Iloilo, Philippines on July 14, 1977 – is a singer, songwriter, and entertainer best known as the first Filipino to win the World Championship of the Performing Arts title. Nicknamed ‘The Voice’ and ‘The Singer’s Singer’, he first came to prominence in 2003 when he was the first male representative from the Philippines to participate in the Voice of Asia contest. During that contest, he won the People’s Choice Award as well as the Silver Trophy. He also won the Best Voice of Asia Male Singer of the Year 2003 from Kazakhstan’s Mainhill Awards.
